DIY: Jonathan Adler-ify

I found this planter a few weeks ago at HomeGoods. I forgot to take a before picture but it was stone and kind of looked like this. I spray painted with white glossy paint and this is the final product! Jonathan Adler meets the Italian Renaissance with a rose fro. Looooveeee it! ❤️❤️❤️

Drunk in Love: Infuse Your Booze

Jalapeño infused vodka! This stuff is so good. The spice totally cuts the vodka after taste (ideal for taking shots during a quickie pregame). I researched infusing techniques for a ridiculous amount of time and ended up using this recipe. I can’t wait to use this in every cocktail. I now also have an absurdly long list of other liquor flavor combinations to try: Kumquat gin, fig brandy… the possibilities are endless!

Pro Tip: USE GLOVES. The first time I made this my hands felt like they were on fire for a full day and a half after cutting and seeding the peppers. I actually thought I was going to cut off my hands.

DIY: Cake Topper

This looks SO cute! I have seen this done all over Pinterest etc and this is my take.

I glued together three sheets of paper and cut a long strip from the bottom left corner to the top right. Then I folded it into two lines, reinforced the lines that would have writing with cardboard and wrote my message! I then glue gunned the banner to two wooden skewers and attached the little glitter circles 🙂

DIY: Off the Chain

So a few weeks ago I got this MBMJ iPad case on super sale from Shopbop. I have had my eye on it for ages so I was so excited when I saw it on sale! I used it as it was intended for about a week (just as a case) and then I decided I needed more… I could totally make this into a shoulder bag/ clutch! I found this yellow chain lying around my house (similar one here) and the rest is history.

It is not the most professional DIY judging by the inside handy work (or lack thereof) but I love that it is detachable and it does the job! 🙂To attach the chain, I hooked a key ring onto the tag on the inside of the bag, then hooked the chain onto this, linking it to the ring on both sides. To cut the chain to size, I used an 18-inch bolt cutter. The end result is a little heavy but I LOVE how it looks. Hopefully since it is a small purse, the weight I save in things that can’t fit in it will counter the weight of the chain… 🙂

Happy DIYing!

DIY: Marbled Coasters

Okay so I followed the instructions on Earnest Home and I LOVE how they turned out. They were surprisingly difficult to work with (I think the sculpey I was using might have been a little old. It took all of my strength to mush these colors together but I’m so glad I didn’t give up! The edges are painted with gold which makes them look so professional and unified. First I used a gold sharpie pen but for some reason that never dried. I ended up spraying some gold spray paint into a bowl and using my finger to apply. I love that they grey color has a bit of sparkle in it. I think these would make such a nice gift!
